My Figure Skating Life

2018 Lake Place Figure Skating

I participated in the Summer Lake Placid Figure Skating competition this year and I had such a positive learning experience. While I was proud of my performances in the intermediate ladies short and free skate qualifying round, I faltered during the final round. The final round day consisted of doing both short and long programs, all the associated practice sessions and workouts. I was at the rink early in the morning that day and I did my final short program around 6 pm. It was a long day with a lot of physical work and emotions added in. I now understand that some moderate workout and resting on the previous day is important and can have a big impact on my performance.

Now for the fun stuff. In both my qualifying short and long programs I got great scores and acheived the top combined score in the nation. See the qualifying videos below and let me know what you think.

After a disappointing final round we went to get ice cream at Emma’s Creamery to cheer me up. If you go there you must get the Salted Caramel Bananas Fosters ice cream with a Chocolate, Nut crusted, and Rainbow Sprinkles cone ( longest order name ever! : ).

The Sunday after the competition my Dad had planned two outdoor activities so that we could take advantage of the beautiful Adirondack Region.

First we went to the High Peaks bike store in Lake Placid and rented some pretty awesome mountain bikes. They got us on our bikes, recommended Henry’s Woods trails, and gave us directions to get there. The place was perfect for me as a beginner. We rode directly from the bike store to the trail and on the way back I conquered a giant hill that impressed my Dad.

After a couple hours of mountain biking we decided to do some hiking on Giant Mountain. We hiked a couple miles up, then down to Giant’s Wash Bowl. This is basically a lake surrounded by mountains. By the time we hiked back to the car 4 hours had passed, we had consumed every drop of water, and expended every ounce of energy! Then we had a 5 hour car ride back. Although it was exhausting I will never forget the experience with my Dad making jokes all the way back to the car. : /)♥♥♥

See you later,

Lindsay : )

2019 Bavarian Open in Germany

Lindsay and Julia

Recently I got assigned to compete in an international competion for USA. This competition took place in Obertsdotf, Germany. The village of Oberstdorf is very beautiful and I had so much fun there. I had a great experience. I made lots of new friends. I got a silver medal there but I hope to do better next time and compete to my best.

When I was not competition I was having lot of fun in the village.  I went on a gondola with my dad and  my coach. After about three gondolas we got to the top. The view was breathtaking and absolutley stunning ! Definetley the most beatiful view I’ve ever seen ( I only been to two countries: US and Germany). I hope in the future I will get another assingnment so I can go to new places and skate amazing for Team USA.

( : 2018 Competition Season : )

I have been busy preparing for the 2018 season and am so excited for this year ( I’m skating in Intermediate). I have selected my music for both the short and long programs and I love both songs.  For my short program I skate to the song Fly by Celine Dion  and for my long I skate to Two Steps from Hell by Nero ( from the movie Anna Karenina ♥). I have my choreography completed for both program along with my spins and jumps.

I was so lucky to have Rohene Ward do the choreography for my long program this year. He is so kind and is an amazing choreographer. It was fun having him do my long program choreograpy this year! : ) : )

⛸🙂2017 Intermediate Season Start🙂⛸

Sorry about not posting in a while but I’ve been very busy this year especially because guess what! I’m graduating elementary school this year so besides my skating competitions I have a lot events for school. So far three competitions past with my new  long program. My short program is the same music & dress but i have a different set up with different jumps. My music for the long program is called “On My Own” and my short is still ” Korobushka” from the group Bond. I really enjoy both of my programs and my favorite part of my program is doing my triple jumps.

The first competitionof the season was in Morristown but my long program wasn’t complete at that time. During the short program I attempted a triple flip double loop combination, a triple toe loop, a double Axel, and lastly my two spins. My combination spin is new.

The second competition was in Connecticut  where I did my long program for the first time. I attempted a triple toe loop double toe loop combination, Triple Lutz, Double Axel double toe double loop combination, Double Axel double loop, Triple toeloop, a double Lutz, and my spins.

My last competition was Friday June 1st for my short program and on Saturday June 2nd for the long program. I placed first in both. This competition was also in Morristown, NJ. For the long I got a score or 74.49   !!!!!!!!!!😲😲😲😏😏😮😮😀😀😀Yeah!! Yah!!  I won the competion and got a trophee!! Bye! See you on the ice!!⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇⛸⛸⛸⛸⛸ The video of that program is posted below.

🌈❄National Competitor!!!!❄🌈

I am so happy I had the experience of being at the 2017 Nationals!!!! I got 6th place eventhough I had a clean program. My technicle( jumps and spins) score was the highest between all of the girls who competed against me. My componet( exspression, how you dance to the music) score wasn’t the best. Eventhough I got 6th place, I feel proud of myself. The rink was gigantic and it was awsome. I have never skated in a rink that big before!! For this competition  all of the competitors had to do something called a draw. A draw was basically for picking the order that all the skaters had to compete in. For a draw, there was a bag with nuber 1 to 12(the number of competitors for each level). Each skater would pick a number and that would the order that they competed in. Nobody wanted to be first but unlukily I ended up being first!!☹ Being first put tons of pressure on me but I did skate clean!! Next time I will be ready to skate first without getting nervous! Now I’m going to work harder and skate faster than ever! I get to start my new programs for  INTERMEDIATE!!!!  Being at nationals was awesome!!😃😁🤗🎈 Video comming soon.

Saturday,June 4th 2016

On Saturday, I had two  big events. First was the NJ Council skating competition. I was the last skater in the second group in Juvenile. I had a great performance. I attempted my double axel and landed my other jumps, smiled a lot, and executed great spins.  After I competed, my mom and I left had to rush off before the award ceremony because I  was also competing in the West Essex County Championship track meet on the same day.  I missed the award ceremony and the results of the skating competition.  Though when we got to the track where the running championships were my skating coach texted the results to my mom. I got first place!! I felt good but kind of sad because I got first but I misses the award ceremony.

At the running meet I was selected represent Montclair in the girls in 4th grade  in the 400 meter run and the 800 meter run. For the 400 meter run ( 1 lap) I placed second. A girl from another running club in another town beat me by 2 second! My time was  1 minute and 16 seconds. I got a second place medal! In the 800 meter ( 2 laps) I got 1st. I beat the other girls by a lot and got a first place medal! My time was 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Lastly, on Friday I did the short program in Intermediate and got 7th.  I am improving!!!!✨☃☑‼
